purses of promise project
Cynthia Cardarelli, Associate Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Herkimer County, accepts Alpha Chi’s Purses of Promise donations on 11/29/18 for utilization by the agency’s Domestic Violence program clients. Catholic Charities runs a safe house in Herkimer County, as well as various domestic violence support services, for women and children. Alpha Chi is pleased to be able to donate nearly three dozen purses, filled with useful personal items, to victims of domestic violence, who often arrive at safe shelters without their handbags and with little more than the clothes on their backs

Alpha Chi has begun working with Compassion Coalition to identify potential community service projects for our chapter.
Chapter service project - November, 2017 - April, 2018
Alpha Chi members generously participated in our latest service project by contributing school supplies at chapter meetings held from 11/1/17 to 4/7/18. Our final collection included over 300 items suitable for use by elementary through high school students. We are happy to donate these resources to the Utica Municipal Housing Authority and to Kids Oneida, organizations which provide valuable academic and life skills support to children as well as adults. 2010-2012 COOKBOOK PROJECT
"Our Global Table" was the name of the cookbook that was made in collaboration with the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees. Alpha Chi produced and marketed this cookbook that included 350 recipes contributed by Alpha Chi members, clients and staff at MVRCR and area businesses. The cookbook was so popular that there were two printings and all the books were sold (with a few donated). Part of the proceeds were given to the MVRCR and part used by Alpha Chi for future service projects.
2009-2010 SCHOOL SUPPLIES
A huge table full of school supplies were collected and distributed to the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees. This spearheaded a cookbook project that helped raise funds for the center.
